26 Mar 2009: President Lincoln: The Duty of a Statesman (Gary & Ann Babbel)

by: William Lee Miller

(and Grandma Babbel's Birthday Gathering!)

We'd like to expand the boundaries of the book club this night since it falls on Grandma's Birthday. All spouses are invited and there will be extra culinary treats for the celebration.

From Ann: "Gary has been reading this book and is really enjoying it and we'd like to do that one if it is okay with everyone. It has great reviews-- is available in paperback on Amazon for about $13 and at Barnes and Noble-full price $16.95, or probably your local library. I think it will be great fun to see everyone--it has been ages (maybe Sept?) since we last saw most of you. It will be a great way to celebrate Grandma--looking forward to seeing you! Thanks!"

26 Feb 2009: When The Legends Die (Candy)

When the Legends Die
By: Hal Borland

This is a compelling novel about the struggle of a Native American in a white man's world. Thomas Black Bull searches for his place in life through many hardships and disappointments. This book addresses culture, identity, and tradition vs. change. It’s a provocative read that challenges one's beliefs and ideas about culture and "living."
